Let’s Get it on to the 6,600 kilometers Transsyberia Rally

Transsyberia Rally is fast approaching, but before Porsche drivers dig in for the competition, they have to gear up first their engine.

Among the Porsche drivers who will be participating on that event are not strangers anymore when it comes to fame and victory, they are Armin Schwarz, the second most unbeaten German rally driver, a French driver René Metge, known as three-time title holder of the Dakar Rally, Marc Coma from Spain who is a two-time motorcycle world rally champ and last on the list is the New Zealand rally living legend, Rod Millen.

With the aid of a small production run of 26 Cayenne S Transsyberias in Leipzig during the training the drivers were able to manage the car’s 385-bhp, slalom and obstacle-avoidance exercises on the asphalt, plus navigation practice and repairs sessions.

Some have said that they were confident enough for the two-week undertaking given the best equipment (Cayenne S Transsyberia) modified for long distance rallies and outstanding off-road capabilities.

Features and Specifications:
- Differential lock (which further improves traction)
- Rough-tread off-road tires
- A rocker switch on the dash (to suit the different driving conditions)
- Bolted-in safety cage
- Stronger underbody protection
- Installation of a handbrake in lieu of the standard, foot-operated parking brake
- Rerouted electrical system
- Passenger-operated navigation computer
- Lightweight sport exhaust
- Roof lights
- Front-mounted winch
- Dual spare wheels & tires
- Two reserve fuel canisters in place of the rear seat
- Active and decoupled stabilizers (to eliminate body roll)
- Incredible all-wheel drive
- 4.8-liter V8 engine makes 385 horsepower
- Six-speed Tiptronic S with a 4.11 final drive ratio
- Porsche Traction Management (PTM)
- Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDDC)
- Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM)
- A roof-mounted snorkel keeps that water from invading the intake manifold
- leather seats
- diamond-plate steel flooring

We will be witnessing the 2007 Transsyberia Rally from August 2 – 17 that will start in Moscow, crosses Siberia, and ends in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, covering over 6,600 kilometers along the way.

There’s no doubt that in this 6,600 kilometers there can only be one winner, the cooler, the bolder and the tougher will be the one to cross the line one more time!
