30th Anniversary Edition Corvette Z06 Pace Car

GM built a special 30th Anniversary Edition Corvette Z06 Pace Car to celebrate the 30th year of the Chevrolet pace cars at the famous race in Indianapolis and the 10th for the Corvette nameplate.

The 30th Anniversary Edition Corvette Z06 is painted in black and silver to commemorate the 1978 pace car. It will be driven by the two-time Indy Champion Emerson Fittipaldi who will also be signing all 500 of the 2008 pace car replicas which will be offered in both coupe and convertible form. Power is to be supplied by the LS3 small block V8 that revs up 436 hp with either a six-speed manual or six-speed paddle shift automatic transmission. The vehicle will ride on new 2008 forged chrome five-spoke aluminium wheels.

It is surprising to note that the Corvette Z06 E85 concept is not exactly what GM has in mind but after Pratt & Miller has showed their Jay Leno commissioned C6RS E85 powered C6 at the SEMA Show, the automaker was somehow encourage to build its own version based on the Z06 instead of the C6.
