2008 Nissan GT-R with BorgWarner Gearbox
Nissan Motor Co. Ltd presented the high performance 2008 Nissan GT-R sports car at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show equipped with BorgWarner's leading dual-clutch transmission technology.
Under the hood of this new sports model comes a a new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 "VR38" engine. BorgWarner completes the powertrain package with the GR6-type dual clutch transmission with paddle shifting and six-plate dual clutch.
According to Dr. Bernd Matthes, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Transmission Systems:
"The Nissan GT-R is a great driving machine and one that is a superb platform for experiencing the full range of dual-clutch transmission efficiency, responsiveness, and versatility. We feel privileged to have worked with Nissan on this milestone vehicle, the first GT-R engineered for sale in global markets. This is another key event in the globalization of dual-clutch transmissions, launching BorgWarner's DualTronic(R) technology in a Japanese transmission for the first time. It is also the world's first transaxle dual-clutch transmission -- front engine and rear transmission - the perfect balance for sports cars."

Subaru Impreza WRX STI at Tokyo
At the recent 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, Japanese automaker Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI) announced that the all-new Subaru Impreza WRX STI is already on sale in nationwide dealerships all over Japan.
Highlights of the all-new Subaru Impreza WRX STI include
- Subaru's signature Symmetrical AWD
- Horizontally-Opposed Boxer engine design
- 2.5-litre flat four turbocharged engine
- engine now produces 296 bhp at 6000 rpm (up 20bhp) and 300lb ft at 4000 rpm (up 11lb ft)
- 0-60 mph in just 5.0 seconds and 158 mph top speed
- multi-mode Driver's Control Center Differential (DCCD)
- multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC).
- Subaru Dynamic Chassis Control Concept

Honda at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show
Japanese automaker Honda is poised to unveil two new concept models at this year's 40th Tokyo Motor Show happening later this October. Want to know them? Then continue reading below.
First off is the Honda CR-Z (Compact Renaissance - Zero) Concept. This new model is a two-seater lightweight compact sports coupe model featuring Honda's petrol-electric hybrid IMA powertrain under its sleek hood. This powertrain system offers low emissions and impressive economy without compromising the car's performance. Other features of the Honda CR-Z Concept include:
- large bumper with gaping air intakes
- smooth lines across the glass roof
- Tube shaped combination lamps at the rear
- include stylish, high-visibility wing mirrors
- LED headlights
- fin-shaped sidelights
- large 19-inch wheels
- hi-tech interior features a blue, neon-like finish across the main dash and centre console
- sporty seats
Meanwhile, another Honda concept model heading to Tokyo Motor Show is the
Honda PUYO. According to the Japanese automaker, "PUYO is meant to convey all that is warm and friendly, and put a smile on the face of users and pedestrians" and
combines "clean, safe and fun all into one environmentally-responsible, people-friendly, yet minimalist design."
Other features of the futuristic Honda PUYO concept include gel body made of soft materials, ultra-efficient hydrogen fuel cell technology, Seamless Soft Box body, people-friendly cabin, instrument panel monitor, elastic-like controls made from cloth, and joystick replaces the steering wheel.
These are only the few details about the Honda CR-Z and Honda PUYO concept models. Wait until the Tokyo Motor Show when Honda releases the complete details and specs of these models.
Meanwhile, Honda also announced that it will debut the new Honda Fit in the Japanese market.

Introducing the 2008 BMW X3
After the launch of the 2008 models of BMW M3 Sedan, M3 Coupe, and 7 Series luxury sedan models, The German automaker continues to introduce its product lineup in the United States market with the release of the 2008 BMW X3 compact crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV). The 2008 BMW X3 comes with similar traits from all other BMW models and equipped with numerous new standard and optional features inside and out.
The 2008 BMW X3 will roll out in the U.S. featuring a monstrous up rated 3.0-liter aluminum/magnesium 6-cylinder engine that offers increased power output up to 260 horsepower and 225 lb ft. of peak torque. The engine is coupled with either a6-speed manual gearbox or a new 6-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission. With this powertrain package, the 2008 BMW X3 can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 (manual) and 7.1 seconds for the model equipped with automatic transmission. BMW's xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system powers the X3.

Ralph Lauren's Car Collection on Discovery Channel
Discovery Channel has recently aired a one hour special program featuring the most exquisite vehicle models from fashion designer Ralph Lauren. Entitled "Speed, Style And Beauty: The Ralph Lauren Car Collection," the show presented various car models that can make you drool to death.
According to Ralph Lauren: “Cars have always been a source of design inspiration for me. The cars I collect have a message of timeless beauty.”
The special episode, aired last Saturday, October 6th was directed by Emmy award-winning producer and cinematographer Peter Schnall. The show also includes comments from some automotive experts like Doug Nye, Winston Goodfellow, and Gordon Murray.

Chrysler is One of the Best Companies for Working Mothers
Among the 2007 "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers", only two companies from the automotive industry were included and Chrysler LLC is one of them. This is the 10th consecutive time that the Auburn Hills automaker was included in the list.
According to Nancy Rae, Chrysler Senior Vice President - Human Resources: "Chrysler is pleased to be recognized by Working Mother magazine as one of the top family-friendly places to work in the auto industry. The company strives to create a work environment that allows each employee to reach their potential. Recognition of those efforts is always rewarding."
General Holiefield, UAW Vice President and Director - Chrysler Department also commented: "The UAW shares Chrysler's commitment to helping female employees balance their responsibilities at home and on the job. Our negotiated joint work/family programs help to provide a safety net that gives them a place to turn when life's challenges become too great to face alone."
Working Mother Magazine has included Chrysler on their list because the company offers policies and programs that benefit married employees like flex options, generous paid maternity leave, affordable child care, and career development. Ford Motor Company is the other automaker that was included in the list.

Looking for the best car model for the city streets? Then check this out!
Cars.com, one of the leading sources of automotive information on the web has announced
the list of best vehicle models suitable for city drivers. According to Patrick Olsen, managing editor of Cars.com: "There is a reason why insurance premiums are higher for city dwellers. Parking on city streets, driving on less-than-perfect roads and navigating through traffic can be a risky proposition. However, with the right car, city driving can be a little more enjoyable."
Automotive experts at Cars.com based their selection according to certain criteria including size, performance, ride quality and cabin comfort. In addition, the experts also check out the vehicles if they are equipped with systems that can help drivers when taking the crowded city streets including parking assist and cameras.

Gainers and Losers: September 2007 Sales
The automotive sales for September 2007 is not that bad after although US automakers including Chrysler LLC and Ford Motor recorded decreased sales. General Motors impressively went back on track and earned 3.8% increase in sales overall, thanks to the company's brands including Cadillac, Chevrolet, Saturn, and GMC. The latter leads GM's sales posting 18.9% increase.
